2 nd PLACE

Upon receipt of sustainability and circular construction design training and mentorship, we embarked on expressing our understanding of said principles in our design. We propose to work on the site that is currently an existing car park, within UON, as it presented design challenges that we could feasibly attempt to address. The site would facilitate a larger working space and re- use of existing containers in our design.
The choice of an energy source is necessitated by the scale, cost and natural factors. The proposed facility will require electrical and heat energy, generated by a variety of energy resources.
We propose to meet these needs through cogeneration - the simultaneous production of electricity and heat from a single dynamic plant, with limited capital investments. This would facilitate the avoidance of fossil fuel combustion. The implementation of the various energy needs would be addressed by an electric mini grid (flexible because the integration of a main grid with a mini grid is achievable by cogeneration).
